Just to let you know that for the next week the regularity of posting will be some what down. Please pray for me as on Sunday I will be preaching on Romans 10 at my church.

So far my posting schedule on this blog has been random at best. This doesn’t serve you, as you never know when you’ll get new content or what you are going to get.

To solve this problem I’ve been doing a little home improvement

So I’ve come up with two ideas to help you get more involved with what’s going on on the site:

Post Calendar

So you know what is going to happen I’ve come up with a post calendar. On certain days of the week I will post on certain topics:

• Monday – Christ-Centred Living: What does the Christian life look like in practice? Perfect for Monday morning! (Example: Don’t Waste Your Summer)
• Wednesday – Christ-Centred Thinking: How should Christians think about certain doctrines, passages of scriptures or modern movements? (Example: We’re About Bible Verses!)
• Friday – Finding Christ Friday: Posts devoted entirely to those who aren’t Christians, showing why you should accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. (Example: What Every Non-Christian Must Know)
• Saturday – Christ-Centred Resources: Books, blogs or websites I recommend. (Example: Come and Welcome to Jesus Christ: John Bunyan)

Post Suggestions

Also to get you involved in the process more I’ve set up an account on Skribit.

Skribit is a site which enables you to suggest posts and vote for which posts you’d like to read. I’m hoping to use it in a number of ways:

• Questions for Non-Christians: So fridays are helpful for non-Christians (and those talking to non-Christians), I need to know what questions you or your friends are asking. So go and suggest topics you would like discussed, or vote for other ones.
• Questions for Christians: Even as a Christian, it may be that there is a certain issue or doctrine you are unsure about. Suggest areas you’d like to know about. When I can’t answer a question I’ll try and find a resource that does, or try and find a person who could do a guest post and answer the question well.
• What’s Coming Up: I’ll put up upcoming posts on Skribit. This means you’ll know what’s coming up and you can vote for the posts you think will be helpful.

Though I apologise greatly for this, there was nothing I could do to prevent it. I had the stress of finishing of my QTS file (a file to get me accredited status as a teacher), whilst teaching a class, finding a job and also proposing to my girlfriend (she said yes!).

However, now I’m back posting will be much more regular. Coming up in the coming weeks will be:

• The next passage in Amos
• A review of JC Ryle’s Christian Leaders of the 18th Century and John Bunyan’s Come and Welcome to Jesus Christ
• A post on using your summer wisely
• An announcement about the future of this site on Monday

Book Aid in the UK

“Where is this shop?” you ask. The one I visited was in Barnard Castle (County Durham), but there are also shops in London, Ranskill (Nottinghamshire) and Templepatrick (County Antrim).

On the ground floor of the Barnard Castle store there were a couple of Bibles and Banner of Truth books and then the rest was a find it yourself A-Z by Author’s Name treasure trove. Not all the books were of as good stock as the ones I bought, but you can find many gems (many out of print). My friend found a signed copy of an Elisabeth Eliot book strangely enough!

When I went they were selling all the Banner of Truth volumes they had half price at Barnard Castle, so well worth a day trip.

Book Aid across the world

Whilst I was basking in the amazing deals I was getting, the lady who ran the bookstall informed me it was a charity. Christians in this country donate their used books to Book Aid and the large percentage are sent to areas across to areas where Christian literature is hard to come by (i.e India, Cameroon, Ghana) and are sold at affordable prices to pastors, laymen or seminaries.

The profits taken from sales in the UK go to help fund shipping etc. of these books overseas.

What an incredible ministry! It gives poor students like me quality Christian books and helps support ministries abroad. Pray for the ministry and support them by either giving your used Christian books or going and buying some more for your collection.

Just a simple blog alert. For those of you looking at the Current Series section and wondering why I haven’t wrote about Amos for ages…good news! The Amos series will be completed shortly.

I got distracted by other things but I hope that completing this series will be of benefit to the Church, which is desperately unfamiliar with the minor prophets.

This week I have been at New Word Alive, a conference for Evangelicals in the UK. Speakers included John Piper, D.A. Carson and Terry Virgo.

The week was a great success and the teaching was fantastic. Over the coming days I will put up my notes and some thoughts on application. I hope what we were taught challenges you too.
